The mission of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen, Inc. is to establish art and craft as a vital influence by promoting excellence through education, collaboration, leadership, marketing and service.
Our mission throughout our almost sixty-year history has always been to help visual artists during their entry into the world of creative arts and crafts, especially as a business venture. Twice a year, the guild offers two juried sessions to include artists who can meet the standards for their medium—in both craftsmanship (technical expertise) and design (creativity).
The Kentucky Guild collaborates and partners with several local, surrounding businesses and state visual art organizations. The main objectives in collaborating are to circulate information to all areas of Kentucky about the valuable benefits of belonging to a statewide membership organization, and to work together to meet our shared goals to benefit artists and their livelihoods.
The activities that the Kentucky Guild presents to the public each year are not only for their enjoyment, but also to give our communities, small towns, and larger cities the opportunity to support artists and craftspeople. These events range from musical concerts, to one, two, and three-day art fairs and shows held across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, where artists and artisans provide an array of beautiful handmade products of baskets, metal, fiber, wood and many more art and craft products.
The Guild offers many additional opportunities to the membership, including participating in Saturday demonstrations of their work, and teaching classes to the public and other working artists who are building skills or exploring new disciplines. We also offer members the chance to sell their work at the KGAC online store and in our “bricks and mortar” gallery at 116 N. Broadway, Berea KY 404043. They can participate in any or all of the “Stop, Shop, Buy and Give” small shows, as well as all of the outside and inside shows scheduled during the calendar year. Last, but not least, we continue the Guild Train tradition by offering ongoing learning opportunities that are accessible to artists and craftsmen throughout the state. The KGAC is very appreciative of the Clark Hulings Foundation for offering their art-business training to our membership.
