Securing funds to help individuals and organizations connect with diverse populations in order to make at accessible to all is the goal of the Arts Council’s grant-making programs. Its investments in artists and arts organizations are helping to build stronger neighborhoods and enhance the quality of life for all residents.
The Arts Council also engages the community through an online events calendar and resource website and its two venues, Gallery 924 at the Arts Council and the Indianapolis Artsgarden. Gallery 924 is a nonprofit gallery space that showcases central Indiana contemporary artists in curated solo and group shows. The Indianapolis Artsgarden is a seven-story, glass-and-steel destination for arts and culture in downtown Indy. The Artsgarden hosts more than 250 free and public performances annually, along with monthly visual arts exhibitions by central Indiana artists. It is also rented for private events, including weddings, corporate receptions, and nonprofit events that support funding for public arts programming.
Partnerships with local arts organizations along with a collective impact partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools, are part of the Arts Council’s education initiatives. Through its partnerships, advocacy, professional development, and online tools, the Arts Council is helping open doors to arts education for youth and for the community.
Our services are intended for artists working in all artistic disciplines and include the online Artist Directory* to help promote artists and their work; the Artist Resources Directory to offer professional tips and guidelines for marketing, healthcare, documentation, sales, legal issues, and much more; the Artist Opportunities E-newsletter to create a level playing field offering information about upcoming grants, commissions, and audition notices to all artists in a timely manner. Our latest program, Artist Industry Nights* networking events, seek to bring together artists of all disciplines to foster the development of stronger networks and collaborative opportunities for all our artists.
